Manchester United have confirmed that Rúben Amorim has chosen to start Kobbie Mainoo as they take on Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup.
After starting their league campaign with fixtures against Arsenal and Fulham, Manchester United kick off their Carabao Cup run with a second-round trip to face Grimsby Town at Blundell Park.
United’s 15th-place finish last season means they enter the competition at this stage for the first time in decades, having missed out on the usual bye into the third round.
Following a 1-0 loss to Arsenal and a 1-1 draw with Fulham, Rúben Amorim will be eager to secure his side’s first victory of the season and quieten early criticism.
With the tie coming just days after their visit to West London, the United head coach is set to freshen up his lineup and make a number of changes.
The XIs have been confirmed below, with Amorim choosing to start Kobbie Mainoo amid speculation surrounding his future.
