Manchester United return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a visit to the Gtech Community Stadium to face Brentford, as they look to reverse a troubling run of domestic form.
Rúben Amorim’s side head into the fixture on the back of a statement win in Europe, cruising to a 3-0 victory away to Athletic Club in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final. Casemiro’s early header set the tone before Bruno Fernandes added two more, putting United firmly in control ahead of next week’s return leg at Old Trafford.
Despite their success on the European stage, United’s league campaign has stalled. They are without a win in their last five Premier League matches and are now in danger of slipping further down the table unless they can find consistency in the final stretch of the season.
With the second leg against Athletic looming, Amorim has shuffled his squad for the Sunday tie. Several senior players have been rested, as Amorim wants to ensure his stars are rested before Thursday evening.
