Manchester United have confirmed that Jadon Sancho will be placed on a ‘personal training programme’, following his statement on social media about manager Erik ten Hag last week.

Sancho, 23, took to social media following the loss against Arsenal after Ten Hag stated that the winger was not selected in the squad due to his training performance.

His statement read: “Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week.

“I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!

“All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team. I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge.

“I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!”

After pinning the post to the top of his profile for almost a week, Sancho has since deleted the statement which caused a storm amongst the media.

Ten Hag and the player have since had talks at Carrington, with a club statement now made.

The club wrote: “Jadon Sancho will remain on a personal training programme away from the first-team group, pending resolution of a squad discipline issue.”

United now have both Sancho and Antony unavailable for selection with the Brazilian dealing with domestic assault allegations that he strenuously denies.

Facundo Pellistri remained at the club despite loan interest in the summer and could receive a start against Brighton on the weekend.
