Manchester United have confirmed the shirt number of new signing Ayden Heaven while Patrick Dorgu’s “perfect” number awaits him.

Ayden Heaven has officially become the first signing of the Ruben Amorim era, choosing to reject a contract offer from Arsenal in favour of joining Manchester United.

With limited funds restricting major spending, the Reds have been focused on making smart acquisitions this month.

While Patrick Dorgu is set to arrive from Lecce in a £25 million deal, Heaven was the first to put pen to paper.

The 18-year-old defender is a highly promising talent and has been on the fringes of Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad this season. He reportedly cost just £1.5 million.

Heaven shirt number confirmed

After officially signing for the club, Heaven has been given his new squad number at Old Trafford.

The teenager wore the number 76 at Arsenal this season but has received a major upgrade at United to reflect his first-team status.

United confirmed that Heaven will wear the number 26 at United, a shirt previously worn by the likes of Dean Henderson and Shinji Kagawa.

The young defender will join up with the first-team squad, but it is unknown whether he will be made available for Sunday’s clash against Crystal Palace.

Dorgu’s perfect shirt number is available

Meanwhile, Dorgu has arrived in Manchester for his own medical at Carrington and is set to be announced as a new United player in the next 24 hours.

The Danish wingback will not available to face The Eagles but could make his United debut next Friday against Leicester City in the FA Cup.

There are limited numbers for the 20-year-old to pick from for his shirt number, but one available is the obvious choice for the new signing.

At Lecce, Dorgu wore the No. 13 shirt, which has been claimed to be the “perfect” fit since No. 13 is one of the most prominent squad numbers currently available at Old Trafford.

The last player to wear the jersey was third-choice goalkeeper Lee Grant, who left in 2022. Other notable figures to have donned the No. 13 shirt for United include Ji-sung Park, Phil Neville, and Gary Neville.
