Manchester United have beaten Arsenal to a second deal this week following the completion of Diego Leon’s transfer.

Manchester United’s approach in the transfer window is taking a turn after years of wasteful signings when trying to bring in ready-made stars.

Now, under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s new regime, the Reds are looking to sign more up-and-coming players who can develop into top players for Ruben Amorim.

Chido Obi-Martin was snatched from Arsenal in the summer alongside a smart £1 million move for Sekou Kone. Both players are considered to be world class talents.

Now, this week the club secured the signing of 16-year-old Emmanuel Ziro, who completed his move to United despite reported interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea.

“For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a ball at my feet and enjoyed the game of football,” Ziro said after his transfer to United.

“I now have the opportunity to continue doing that at the biggest club in the world, as well as the team I support.”

However, the Reds have not stopped in their pursuit of identifying young talent and have beaten Arsenal to another exciting teenager.

Paraguayan talent Diego Leon has been on United’s radar in recent months and they have now agreed a deal to sign him next summer after he turns 18 for an initial £3.1 million, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The teenage left-back has been excelling at Cerro Porteno and will provide a future option for the left wingback position in Amorim’s team.

Leon was on the shortlist for several top European clubs, including Arsenal once again.

United will be hoping that this new approach brings them success in the years to come, with exciting talents also emerging within the Academy each season.
