Manchester United backed to seek deal with ‘incredibly reliable’ star following derby masterclass

Manchester United are being backed to seek a deal with one of their stars. He will be crucial to the development of Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven.

Over the weekend, Manchester United secured a well-earned 2-0 victory against their bitter rivals, Manchester City, which catapulted the Reds up to fifth in the Premier League.

Michael Carrick’s first fixture as United’s interim manager was a huge success, and it also saw plenty of fantastic performances as the Reds completely shut out their neighbours.

One of the stars who shone brightest in the Reds’ victory was Harry Maguire, who was a key component in United’s bid to shut out the league’s top scorer, Erling Haaland.

Following this performance, United are being backed to seek a deal with the English defender, as he could be key to the development of their young stars. More specifically, Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven.

Scout pushes for Maguire extension

Speaking with Football Insider, via United in Focus, former United chief scout Mick Brown has claimed that the 32-year-old defender still has a big part to play at Old Trafford.

Brown said, “Man United should be looking to keep Harry Maguire. On the basis of what he has done for them over a long period, every time he comes into the side, he’s a stabilising or winning influence on the team.

“He came back into the side against Man City and showed what Man United have been missing. “He’s incredibly reliable at the back, especially in a back four; he keeps things organised, and he’s also a massive influence both defending and attacking set pieces.

“These are all assets Man United need in their current situation. He’s going to be crucial. “They should be highlighting his importance and influence on the team and recognising that they would be better off keeping him around.”

Maguire to help United youngsters

Continuing his appraisal of the Englishman, Brown stated that Maguire could be crucial to the development of United’s youngsters, such as Heaven and Yoro.

Brown said, “Some of the younger players in the squad, like Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro, can learn from him, and that’s just as important as his role on the pitch.

“I think it’s something they have to be looking to do, especially now he’s going to play a big role under Michael Carrick and can prove his worth.”

Given that Carrick is new to the role as United manager, some experienced heads, such as Maguire, will be vital to any success at Old Trafford over the remainder of the season.
