Manchester United are striking fear back into Premier League rivals with statement Benjamin Šeško transfer

Manchester United are making a statement to the Premier League by signing Benjamin Šeško from RB Leipzig.

At 22, potential holds no bounds for the RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško, as he enters his third season of football for the German side.

With two new signings, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, travelling with the squad to America last week, Manchester United aim to add to their impressive haul this summer transfer window.

The club has identified three positions as a priority for potential signings: a goalkeeper, a central midfielder, and, vitally, a new number nine.

In the modern game, with a striker shortage, signing one of Europe’s top young strikers would send a message to the rest of the league, confirming the club’s devotion to return to the top.

Šeško would strike fear into Premier League rivals

With the Reds strikers scoring a combined total of seven Premier League goals last year, Sesko has the potential to revitalise a dying United strike force.

As the club enters a transfer battle with Premier League rivals Newcastle, reports suggest that the player could be worth up to £60 million plus, but that United are confident of striking a deal.

The 22-year-old has made 236 senior appearances since his debut for FC Liefering in 2019, representing his national side, Slovenia, in the European Championships last summer.

Since then, Šeško has become a valuable player in the Red Bull project, both in Austria and Germany, the striker has excelled and become a household name for RB Leipzig.

With fellow Premier League clubs such as Arsenal and Liverpool signing number nines this summer, the club can also show its intent and challenge for Europe again with this signing.

Sesko would start over Højlund in the starting XI

Rasmus Højlund confirmed his intent to stay in a post-match interview after the preseason game against Bournemouth on Thursday, which could prove troublesome for United’s number nine situation.

Joshua Zirkzee’s future remains unclear, as he misses out on the Reds’ American tour due to injury, handing Hojlund and Chido Obi room to impress.

Sesko would want guaranteed playing time if he were to sign, which could be an issue if Danish striker Højlund remains at the club.

That said, competition for a starting role could prove beneficial to both players, as both of them are at similar stages of their careers and are hoping to progress.

With mounting pressure on Højlund, Sesko would find space to become United’s starting striker for many years, if the deal is sealed.
