Mateo Mejia’s beautiful strike cancelled Khayon Edwards’ early goal out at Old Trafford as it ended all square between Manchester United and Arsenal in the PL2 on Friday evening.

Edwards’ 20th-minute goal was followed by the equaliser in the 24th minute at the Theatre of Dreams.

The result leaves Arsenal in sixth place while United’s failure to overtake the visitors keeps them in ninth.

It was Edwards who came closest early on. His attempt forced Harrison into action in the United goal.

Soon after, another terrific save by the goalkeeper kept it goalless, but not for long.

Harrison had undone his great work with a poor attempt at playing out from the back. His slip left Edwards with an open goal, who tapped in and wheeled away to celebrate in Marcus Rashford-esque fashion.

Arsenal’s lead didn’t last long, however.

Dan Gore picked out an excellent pass in-between centre-back and full-back after a lung-bursting run, finding Mejia who guided his half-volley into the back of the net for 1-1.

Before the break, Sagoe Jnr’s beautiful touch and hit was met with an even better save by Harrison, and it was the pair of them at it again after the interval.

The winger’s shot was tipped onto the post by Harrison.

It was United’s turn to go close, next.

Ethan Williams’ powerful attempt was blocked by Hubert Graczyk in the Arsenal goal.

Late on, substitute Amario Cozier-Duberry’s curling effort had hearts in mouth, though the winger’s shot went just wide.
