Ruben Amorim allowed several Manchester United players departed the club on loan in the January transfer window.

Manchester United made two signings in the mid-season window, securing Patrick Dorgu for £25 million and Ayden Heaven for just over £1 million.

However, there were more departures than incomings. Within Ruben Amorim’s first-team squad, Tyrell Malacia, Antony and Marcus Rashford left the club on loan.

Several youth players also left Old Trafford to get experience on loan, with Ethan Ennis, Ethan Wheatley, Ethan Williams, Dan Gore, Joe Hugill, Jack Kingdon, Sam Mather and Louis Jackson departing to clubs within the English Football pyramid.

Williams scores incredible goal in Cheltenham win

Ethan Williams was an important player in the treble-winning Under-18s side last term. In all competitions, he scored 17 goals and provided nine assists.

The 19-year-old winger joined League Two side Cheltenham Town last month and has since made six appearances for the Robins.

After starting on the bench in his first four games, Williams made his first start for the club last weekend against Barrow and assisted the winning goal in a 3-2 comeback win.

Once again, the teenager started against Newport County on Saturday afternoon and impressed. He scored and assisted in a convincing 3-0 victory.

The United loanee shown excelled composure and precision to lob the Newport goalkeeper after a failed clearance landed at his feet.

Cheltenham manager takes shot at Amorim and United situation

After his Man of the Match performance, Williams received immense praise from Cheltenham manager Michael Flynn, who also seemed to take a slight dig at Amorim and the current situation at Old Trafford.

It is no secret that United are struggling for inspiration in the final third right now, and Flynn has suggested that Williams would be making an impact in Amorim’s team right now.

“He has quality, which is why he’s at Manchester United,” the League Two boss said about Williams after the game. “If he carries on the way he is, he’d probably make an impact in their first team at the minute.

“I am delighted they trust us with him and I’ll do my best to make him as best as we can for the parent club. He’s a great lad, who wants to learn and I am pleased to have him.”
