One manager has provided huge praise for a Manchester United loanee after making his debut and he could be impacting Ruben Amorim’s transfer plans.
Manchester United have been active in the summer transfer market, with their headline business focused on strengthening the attack.
Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Šeško have all arrived with the aim of addressing last season’s lacklustre goal return.
The Reds are also interested in trying to add talented Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba to their squad ahead of the transfer deadline in a few weeks.
Meanwhile, there has been plenty of movement on the loan front, with several exciting stars aiming to progress and develop at their new clubs this season.
Manager provides huge praise for United loanee on debut
One of the young Reds who has been sent on loan is Elyh Harrison, who had a successful spell in the National League at the start of last term.
Now on loan at Shrewsbury Town in League Two, Harrison has impressed on his debut performance and earned praise from Michael Appleton after the game.
Despite his side losing 3-1 to Grimsby Town in the first round of the Carabao Cup, the 19-year-old saved a penalty and looked impressive in terms of shot-stopping and his distribution.
“He did well, he read the second one,” said Appleton of Harrison saving one penalty and getting close to another in the game.
“He had a really good evening tonight Elyh. We saw what he is capable of in terms of making saves, more importantly what he does with the ball as well.”
Harrison and Vitek could be impacting United’s goalkeeper plans
Harrison was not the only United goalkeeper to have an excellent debut performance on loan this month. Radek Vitek received the Man of the Match award after his Bristol City bow.
These two young goalkeepers are highly-rated at Old Trafford and it seems like they might be impacting the transfer plans at Old Trafford.
United are reportedly no longer interested in signing Gianluigi Donnarumma and there are no guarantees of a goalkeeper signing this summer.
Following on from this, BBC Sports reporter Simon Stone suggested that Harrison and Vitek could be reasons behind United not being desperate to sign a new shot-stopper.
“Worth bearing in mind in any goalkeeper talk around Man United that Radek Vitek and Elyh Harrison are out on loan and very highly thought of by the club,” he wrote on X.
Perhaps one of those options can push their way into Amorim’s plans next season after successful spells on loan this term.
