One Manchester United starlet has received a huge blow this season after an extremely positive pre-season at the club.

The Reds have seen both Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho emerge as crucial first-team players this term.

But during pre-season, there was another player impressing Erik ten Hag, with Dan Gore shining during his cameos.

The young midfielder, who has received comparisons to Roy Keane, delivered a beautiful cross to assist Donny van de Beek against Lyon.

Ten Hag was impressed by Gore in both pre-season and training. The United boss awarded the teenager his first-team debut on his 19th birthday earlier this season against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.

However, in the January transfer market, a decision was made to send Gore on loan to get consistent first-team minutes at League One outfit Port Vale.

He made his debut for the club days later against eventual title winners Portsmouth, losing 1-0, and found initial difficulties in the game.

Gore would’ve expected to be able to learn his trade and improve across the season, but injury concerns have seemed to ruin his spell on loan.

Manager Darren Moore stated earlier this year that injuries were impacting Gore’s season, and he has since confirmed that the United loanee will not be appearing for the remainder of the campaign.

Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference this week, Moore confirmed: “Dan Gore won’t make it now for the rest of the season.”

The teenager was spending his time between United and Port Vale during his recovery, but it is likely that he will return to Carrington full-time to recover fully from this ongoing injury issue.

Many United fans were excited about both Gore and Mainoo during pre-season, and this setback will be unfortunate to hear for many who hoped that he would continue his development on loan.
