Rúben Amorim could welcome two Manchester United players back to his squad as he prepares his squad to face Fiorentina in pre-season.
Manchester United round off their 2025 pre-season campaign this weekend, as Rúben Amorim’s side host Fiorentina at Old Trafford.
With two wins and two draws from their all-Premier League warm-up fixtures, the Reds now face Italian opposition in their final outing before the new season kicks off.
Saturday’s match will be the first opportunity for supporters to see new signings Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon, and Bryan Mbeumo on home soil.
It will also see the return of former United goalkeeper David de Gea, who is set to play at Old Trafford for the first time since his departure in 2023.
Amorim could welcome duo back to United
Although most of United’s players have been able to maintain and increase their fitness levels as pre-season commenced and went on, three players have been unable to participate.
Aside from Lisandro Martínez, who is continuing to rehabilitate from his ACL injury, Noussair Mazraoui and Joshua Zirkzee did not play a single minute against any of West Ham, Bournemouth, or Everton in the United States.
However, Zirkzee is known to be back in training with the side, and while there is no update on Mazraoui, it’s thought that his injury is not a serious issue, so he could also return. Zirkzee also dropped a hint about his return on his social media pages on Friday evening.
Although André Onana is also back in light training, the Fiorentina fixture comes too early for his return. However, the Cameroon international aims to return when United welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford next week.
Fiorentina tie too soon for Šeško’s debut
United completed the signing of Benjamin Šeško from RB Leipzig this week, with the Slovenian international having undergone his medical and signed his contract until 2030 on Friday afternoon.
United have committed to around £66 million plus a further £7.5 million in add-ons to secure the 22-year-old, and are expected to announce the player on Saturday.

Although Šeško is expected to be at Old Trafford for his unveiling, the fixture likely comes too soon for him to make his debut, and instead, he will watch the tie from the stands.
Šeško will be in training from Monday morning at Carrington and will have a full five days with his new teammates. He will then likely make his debut against Arsenal, the side that tried and failed to sign him in June and July.
