Man Utd wonderkid sends clear message to Ruben Amorim in U21s win vs Liverpool after ‘close to first-team’ claim

Manchester United’s U21s continued their fine start to the season in the Premier League 2 with a 2-1 away victory against rivals Liverpool.

While Manchester United’s first-team have experienced difficulties in the Premier League so far this season, the youth sides are thriving.

The Under-18s have won all five of their league fixtures and the Under-21s have also won all of their four PL2 clashes. Both teams are top of their respective divisions.

On Sunday afternoon, Travis Binnion’s U21s side came from behind against Liverpool to win 2-1 and there were several impressive performers in the game.

Chido Obi scored the equalising goal just before half-time and right-back Jaydan Kamason netted the eventual winner 10 minutes from time.

While he was not on the scoresheet, Shea Lacey was one of the standout performers for United’s youngsters in their impressive win.

The tricky right winger played a smart pass inside to Tyler Fletcher in the build-up to Obi’s equaliser and created many dangerous chances when cutting inside from that right side.

He was substituted just before the 80-minute mark and the United coaches would have been delighted by his performance.

Lacey has been one of the most exciting youth players at United in recent years but injuries over the last two years have halted his progression.

After impressing for the first-team during the post-season tour, Lacey will certainly be one player that Ruben Amorim keeps an eye on throughout the season.

He fits the right-sided no.10 in the Portuguese coach’s system perfectly and recent reports have claimed that the 18-year-old is ‘close to first-team’ action now.

Lacey was spotted in a first-team training video last week and he will be hoping that he can continue to play consistent minutes for the U21s before potentially getting a chance under Amorim later in the season.

His performance against Liverpool sent a message to Amorim that the teenager is continuing to impress and develop as he looks to break into his plans.
