Man Utd vs Newcastle: Third suspension confirmed amid FA investigation
Manchester United face a tough test against Newcastle United on Monday evening and have suspension issues to overcome heading into the game.
The form under new boss Ruben Amorim has been patchy to say the least, with just four wins in his opening 10 games.
United sit 14th in the Premier League table and are in desperate need of a victory to end 2024 on a high note.
But they are hosting an in-form Newcastle side who have won four of their last five games in all competitions.
Eddie Howe’s side are full of confidence after a dominant 3-0 win against Aston Villa last time out, while the Reds will likely be entering the game nervy.
Fernandes and Ugarte suspended for United
Amorim will have two important players unavailable for this clash as Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte are suspended.
Fernandes received a red card last time out against Wolves and will be banned for one game, meaning he will return for the clash against Liverpool in the New Year.
Meanwhile, Ugarte received his fifth booking of the Premier League season in that same clash, leaving him with a one-game suspension as well.
The midfield pair have been important players for Amorim so far, with Ugarte being one of few United men in strong form.
Newcastle are well-known for their energetic approach and it remains to be seen who Amorim uses in the midfield to challenge that.
Tindall suspended for Newcastle amid FA investigation
United are not the only ones with a suspension heading into this clash but the visitors will not be missing any key players.
Instead, it is Howe’s long-standing assistant manager Jason Tindall who is banned from being on the touchline at Old Trafford.
Tindall and Aston Villa analyst Victor Manas were sent off during their clash earlier this week after what was described as a ‘20-man melee’ in the tunnel at half-time.

It has been explained that the incident is currently under investigation by the Football Association and both clubs and individuals could face further punishment.
Tindall will not be able to be in the dugout against United on Monday and, as things stand, he would return to assist Howe for their next clash against Tottenham Hotspur on 4 January.
However, United will certainly feel that they have the more significant absences for this upcoming game.
