Man Utd vs Newcastle: All the details for Erik ten Hag’s press conference
Erik ten Hag will host his pre-match press conference for Manchester United’s clash against Newcastle in the Premier League following the return from the international break.
After two weeks of qualifiers for the 2024 European Championships, the final stretch of the season is now upon us. United remain in three competitions but have an important league fixture to focus on.
The Reds are currently just three points above The Geordies and will need a victory on Sunday to ensure their comfort in the top four. A loss could bring nervous energy to the camp as they are pulled into the dogfight for the Champions League positions.
Ten Hag will address the media on Friday afternoon, with the second half of the press conference available at 22:30 BST on Saturday evening.
In order to watch the manager speaking to journalists ahead of the clash, you can watch live on MUTV or the Man Utd app. You can also receive live updates from UtdDistrict’s Twitter account.
One major talking point that will likely be discussed in the press conference will be the fitness of several United players.
Anthony Martial and Christian Eriksen have both had extended layouts on the sidelines but are close to returning. The pair have been training at Carrington over the international break. Their status ahead of the fixture will be questioned.
Marcel Sabitzer’s condition will also be a topic of concern after he received a knock to his knee during Austria duty last week. He appeared on the bench for their 2-1 win against Estonia but did not feature.
Marcus Rashford and Raphael Varane had also picked up minor knocks a couple of weeks ago. The boss will provide updates on those two as well.
Another midfielder will certainly be a topic to be discussed after the international break. Scott McTominay scored four times for Scotland in two games, including a brace that saw Steve Clark’s side win 2-0 against Spain.
With Casemiro unavailable due to suspension, Ten Hag will likely be quizzed on whether the Scotsman can fill the void in the Brazilian’s absence.
Finally, the importance of the game will be something put to the Dutchman. United have the chance to get major success in the cup competitions after already winning the Carabao Cup, but top four is crucial.
