According to reports, Manchester United view the potential transfer of Leny Yoro as a completely unique opportunity this summer.

It seems that Manchester United have begun to focus on signing Lille centre-back Leny Yoro to improve their defence after a tough season under Erik ten Hag.

Due to injuries, the team conceded over eighty goals across all competitions and used more than 30 different defensive combinations in 52 matches.

With INEOS overseeing recruitment for the 2024 summer transfer window, the 18-year-old has emerged as a key target alongside previously mentioned players like Jarrad Branthwaite and Jean-Clair Todibo.

According to fresh information from The Athletic, United are now “actively pursuing” a deal to sign the young Frenchman this summer, with Liverpool and PSG also interested.

Although Real Madrid are still considered as favourites, they have not yet taken the same steps as United, despite Lille president Olivier Létang confirming he is available for transfer this summer.

It is said that United are “pushing hard” to sign Yoro this summer, but their reasoning for targeting the player is slightly unusual. Rather than having Yoro as a bona fide target to bring into the team, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s club sees it “as a unique market opportunity rather than a fundamental part of their recruitment plans.”

The report details that a deal for Yoro could be achieved for around £43 million, which is a no-brainer for such a talented young player.

Fighting off Real Madrid, Liverpool, and PSG in the race for his signature is no easy task, but with Raphaël Varane having left the club and the futures of Harry Maguire, Jonny Evnas, and Victor Lindelöf all unclear, it could be a fantastic coup.
