Paris St. Germain have been warned against the “risky” signing of Jadon Sancho by a Ligue 1 expert following his turmoil time at Manchester United.

Jadon Sancho, 24, was away from Manchester United for the second half of last season after a dispute with manager Erik ten Hag, who had dropped him from the squad for a match against Arsenal.

Sancho has not played a competitive game for United since the end of August last year, with Ten Hag citing poor training performances as the reason. Sancho publicly denied this, leading to his removal from the squad and a six-month loan to Borussia Dortmund.

Although many anticipated his sale this summer, Sancho recently had a lengthy discussion with Ten Hag, during which they resolved their differences. Now, Sancho has rejoined the United team and is actively participating in pre-season training.

He has played 45 minutes in each of United’s two pre-season fixtures against Rosenborg and Rangers and flew to the USA with the rest of the squad as they prepare to take on Arsenal, Real Betis, and Liverpool.

However, reports have stated that United will still consider offers of around £40 million for the player despite his return to the team, and PSG have been credited with genuine interest and talks for the English winger.

However, Ligue 1 expert Jonathan Johnson has warned PSG against their pursuit of Sancho, deeming his signing as “quite risky” if they simply base their interest on his second spell at Dortmund as there is no immediate fit for him in the side.

“Sancho is obviously somebody who you know was reborn with Dortmund on that loan spell that he had with him last season,” Johnson said on the latest episode of PSG Talking.

“We saw him up close in the Champions League and how well he did, but I think for PSG, I think the fit is a little bit more difficult to imagine, at least immediately, when you factor in the likes of Barça and [Ousmane] Dembélé.

“I think he’s an exciting talent, no doubt about it. And it’s great that he’s getting back to sort of his best kind of form. But I think United will want to see some sort of return on the investment that they put into him. It sounds like they’re willing to give him a go and try and make that relationship with Ten Hag, you know, more workable for the two of them in the future.

“I think PSG spending big just based on sort of one really good half-season with Dortmund, no matter how good it was. And it was, you know, he was sort of back to his best almost. I think it would be quite risky.

“So as much as I think the link is interesting, I don’t really see there being an obvious fit for Sancho immediately, as much as sort of the staff factor would be quite appealing to PSG.”
