One of Manchester United’s stars has been slammed for a specific moment of friction between him and Erik ten Hag against Liverpool.

Manchester United fell to their second defeat in three games with a 3-0 loss to Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.

Two first-half blunders by Casemiro gave Mohamed Salah the chance to assist Luis Díaz for two outstanding finishes. Although Toby Collyer replaced Casemiro at the break, Liverpool continued to assert their control, with Salah adding a third goal to secure the victory.

However, former United defender Paul Parker has pointed to a moment in the second half where Erik ten Hag substituted 20-year-old forward Alejandro Garnacho, which was met by boos by fans.

Parker slammed Garnacho’s reaction to the substitution, where he pointed out that the player seemed to walk past his Dutch manager without acknowledging him.

“The performances and the team unity has to step up,” Parker told bettingexpert. “It has to step up. And it starts with what ten Hag is doing with his wide players.

“With Garnacho, you’re not sure what you’re going to get. He comes off, and he doesn’t even look at his manager. He just kind of walks past as if he’s asking the question as to why he was subbed off. He’s a young player. He shouldn’t be doing that.

“Go and knock on the manager’s door the next day and ask questions. But remember who you are. Remember where you are. You don’t do that. You don’t do that. Remember how old you are as well.”

Further, Parker explains that Ten Hag must be strong in his decision-making. Although it was not the right decision to take Garnacho off against Liverpool, the Dutch manager must continue to hold firm with his decisions despite player reactions.

“He’s played a few games for Argentina and yes, they are the world champions, but because you played a few games it doesn’t make you the control freak who makes the decisions about where and when you play and when you go off.

“But the only thing I will say is that it shouldn’t have been him. Everyone in the stadium knew that. So, the manager has to be strong. And the one thing he needs on his side at the moment is he needs his players.

“And to keep the players on the right side, he has to make decisions about players who are not doing enough. Have a bad game. That’s human. You can have bad games.”
