Ruben Amorim has already changed his mind on one Manchester United star who has seemingly made a transfer U-turn this summer.
Manchester United are under pressure to generate funds this summer as they look to overhaul Rúben Amorim’s squad at Old Trafford.
A major revamp of the attacking department is underway, with Matheus Cunha already secured and negotiations ongoing with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo.
However, those two moves have already exhausted United’s initial transfer budget, meaning any additional signings—particularly in midfield and up front—will rely on player departures.
The club are prepared to listen to offers for a variety of players, including those who spent last season on loan like Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Antony.
United star makes transfer U-turn
It has also been previously claimed that United are willing to sell Casemiro if an offer comes in for him and recent reports stated that negotiations with Al-Nassr were at an advanced stage.
However, it has since been revealed by the Mirror that the 33-year-old is now planning to stay at Old Trafford for next season.
The report explains how the Brazilian international feels like his best chance of being in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the World Cup next year is by staying in the Premier League.
Casemiro’s contract at Old Trafford expires next summer and the midfielder will likely leave the club then, rather than this window.
Amorim changed his mind on Casemiro
Casemiro had a very difficult start to life under Amorim last season but slowly began to get the trust of the new Portuguese boss.
The 40-year-old appreciated the Brazilian’s efforts and admitted to the media that he was learning how to get the best out of him in the middle of the park.
“I think I’m learning how to use players like Casemiro and, like you said, without a lot of options, we are trying to put our players in the best positions and that helps us a lot,” he said in an interview in March.
Despite there being issues about his large wages and whether he can still deal with the Premier League tempo on a weekly basis, it seems like Amorim is still open to using Casemiro next term.
