Gary Neville was left in absolute shock with Manchester United’s Benjamin Šeško following his brilliant winning goal against Everton on Monday night.
Manchester United got themselves back to winning ways on Monday evening, thanks to substitute Benjamin Šeško, who netted the only goal in a 1-0 win over The Toffies.
After a first half in which neither side created many chances, Michael Carrick introduced Šeško to the front line in place of Amad, and his dynamic abilities completely tilted the game.
Just after the 70th minute, Matheus Cunha launched a beautiful forward ball to Bryan Mbeumo, and Šeško made a lung-busting run into the box before finishing brilliantly beyond Jordan Pickford.
After the game, it was revealed that Šeško had actually reached 35.3 km/h, which would exceed the speed limit in many London boroughs, leading many to laud the Slovenian’s incredible athletic prowess.
Neville and Keane laud Šeško’s improvement
On the latest episode of the Stick to Football podcast, former United players Roy Keane and Gary Neville, along with Arsenal legend Ian Wright, spoke on Šeško’s recent improvement. When Neville proposed that Šeško must start against Crystal Palace amid his improvement, Keane agreed.
“Of course, yeah,” the Irishman said. “Confidence. But even early on in the season, remember, I think we mentioned what he did, he missed one or two chances, but he was getting into the positions, and you’re thinking, he’s done a lot of the right stuff, and he got a lot of confidence and belief.”
Neville went on to ask if the others felt Šeško was starting to look quicker and more powerful, and when speaking about the striker’s incredible top speed just before the goal, the former defender pulled a face of complete gobsmack.
“That always occurs when someone’s gone good,” Keane argued back. “They just look a bit [better]. You’ve just mentioned there, attacking players do look a bit [better] , the weight’s been lifted off their shoulders.
“Maybe the test will be when you’ve got, no, you’re going to be the main man now, can you take that? He’s coming off the bench and getting up to speed with the game.”

Wright says Šeško’s goal cannot be underestimated
Wright, who scored 185 goals in 288 appearances for Arsenal, also greatly appreciated the “fantastic” finish.
“You know what’s good about it is that people will underestimate, the ball’s come across to Šeško, coming off the [bench], his concentration and finish was so [good], honestly,” Wright added.
“[He had] a long time to look at it, and this is what I’ve said, people underestimate, right, people underestimate, they think that’s easy because it’s just him and the goalie.

“But that finished and the contact, again, remember when I said about going to the basics when it’s coming, the timing, it was fantastic. And he’d done the same with that goal where he curled it in the top corner [vs West Ham].”
Continuing later on in the show, Wright added, “But you know what, I’ll tell you again, because I always look at the replay and watch this.
“His whole demeanour, he’s going to score, because he didn’t even, he didn’t look at the goalie, he didn’t look at anything because you know when he’s coming there, you’re going right back in.”
