Man Utd star advised to accept fresh transfer offer, he is ‘not the right player’ for Ruben Amorim

One Manchester United star has been advised to accept a fresh transfer offer as he is not the right player for Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.

Manchester United’s season was one to forget, and few felt the strain more than Rasmus Højlund. The young striker often looked overwhelmed as the team’s focal point in attack.

He found the net just four times in the Premier League, and as the campaign wore on, his struggles became more apparent—particularly with holding the ball up and influencing play in the final third.

Despite ongoing speculation about his future, what Højlund needs most right now is a complete mental and physical reset—a chance to switch off from football and rebuild his confidence.

But instead of taking that much-needed break, the 22-year-old is currently on international duty with Denmark and played in their narrow 2-1 win over Northern Ireland on Saturday evening.

Højlund advised to accept Inter offer

After being criticised for his performance for Denmark by their national media, Højlund received advice from their former goalkeeper Peter Kjær.

Kjær believes that the 22-year-old should not continue at Old Trafford and that a move to Inter Milan, who are heavily interested in him, is the right decision.

The ex-Aberdeen shot-stopper also explained his doubts about Højlund being the right man at OId Trafford under Amorim heading into next season.

“I’m not a big fan of him staying at Manchester United. It’s hard to say because it’s a big club, where he certainly earns a lot,” Kjær told ViaPlay.

“But if Inter were to be an option, it’s a team that has played in a Champions League final and has made a name for itself in Europe in recent years. It would be a really nice place to go and play.”

“With what is happening at United and with the season that Højlund has had, perhaps it would be better for him to return to a league where he has already given his best, like Italy. I am not sure he is the right striker to take United to the next level.”

Højlund planning to stay at United

Despite those comments, Højlund himself has said that he is planning to stay at United next season and that he wants to have a ‘good pre-season’ this summer.

“I have a contract until 2030, so I expect to play for Manchester United,” he told Danish reporters. “I’m looking forward to going on a summer vacation, and then I’m fully dedicated to the project that’s underway.

“I know I can’t get much out of reading things. I know what the facts are, and that is that I have a contract with Manchester United until 2030. I expect to play there, so I’m just getting ready for some summer vacation and then hopefully a good pre-season.”

Whether or not United decide to try and sell him will largely depend on the kind of offers teams like Inter Milan are willing to put on the table, with any initial loan deals likely to be unacceptable.
