One Manchester United star has been advised to go to Italy following poor form and results under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Manchester United‘s form across the 2024/25 season has been appalling, leaving the side 14th in the Premier League table and scrambling in the Europa League after Erik ten Hag‘s men drew their first two results in the competition.

The Dutch manager’s poor form has led to heavy criticism, but his players have not been immune to critics either, with a few taking the brunt of the blame.

While André Onana, Noussair Mazraoui, and Amad Diallo have been praised for their performances, others like Lisandro Martínez, Casemiro, and Manuel Ugarte have been scorned.

However, the man who has been in the spotlight the most after Ten Hag is Marcus Rashford. After scoring 30 goals across all competitions in 2022/23, the 26-year-old has found good form hard to come by.

Rashford in the Serie A?

Former England star Paul Gascoigne has explained that, although he loves Rashford, he feels the 26-year-old needs to head to Italy in order to help rejuvenate his career after a string of poor form under Ten Hag.

“Yeah, definitely, I think so,” Gascoigne told SportsCasting when asked whether Rashford should consider leaving United.

“I love Rashford. I think he’s an unbelievable player, but he just doesn’t seem to care. Even when he scores, he doesn’t seem happy about it, so there’s something going on there.

“If that’s the case, just move on. You get a couple of players that move on, and then they find something different. For Rashford, he doesn’t seem happy playing in England anyway. And some good clubs will come in for him. Go to Italy, that’ll shake him up.”

McTominay setting an example

no player has flourished more since leaving the club in the summer than Scott McTominay. The Scottish international signed for Napoli for around £30 million and excelled in his advanced midfield role.

The 27-year-old has scored two goals in eight appearances for the Serie A outfit so far and cemented himself as a crucial part of Antonio Conte’s system, where he can finally play a consistent starting role.

McTominay seems very happy in Serie A and has been adored by Naples club fans, something that has been somewhat missing for Rashford at United.
