Manchester United have released a statement confirming that six players will not take part in the pre-season friendly against Rosenborg.

Manchester United will commence their 2024 pre-season plans with a friendly fixture against Rosenborg in Norway as Erik ten Hag prepares his side for the 2024/25 campaign.

While many of the first-team players remain away from the side due to competing in the Copa America and 2024 European Championships, a number of fresh faces, such as Marcus Rashford, André Onana, and Harry Maguire, have all returned to Carrington.

Jadon Sancho has also been reintegrated into the squad following talks with Erik ten Hag. The pair are said to have settled their differences following a season-long spat that concluded with the winger spending six months on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

However, while many expected some of the returning players to be part of the Rosenborg trip, the club has confirmed that six of the first-team members will not travel.

“The Reds will take on Rosenborg at the Lerkendal Stadium in the first of two pre-season friendlies, before flying to the USA for Tour 2024,” a club statement read.

“A total of 25 players departed from Manchester on Sunday afternoon, ready to take part in the game.

“Harry Maguire is continuing to work on his recovery from injury at Carrington.

“André Onana, Victor Lindelöf, Amad, Antony, and Jadon Sancho are all working on their fitness at the training ground in line with individual schedules. “
