Former Premier League midfielder Don Hutchison has explained his worry about one Manchester United star amid the Liverpool loss.

Manchester United fell to their second defeat in three games as Erik ten Hag‘s men were destroyed 3-0 by Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.

Two first-half mistakes from Casemiro allowed Mohammed Salah to pick up the ball, which provided Luis Diaz with the opportunity for two fantastic finishes.

Although Toby Collyer replaced Casemiro at half-time, Liverpool continued to dominate, and a third from Salah sealed proceedings.

Speaking ahead of the game, former Premier League midfielder Don Hutchison expressed his concern about Marcus Rashford.

“I think Marcus, being from the city, is maybe starting to feel the heat in terms of thinking he maybe needs to get out of the city,” Hutchison explained on BBC Radio 5 Live. “Does he need to go to PSG and go and play and have some freedom?

“The pressure of being the academy player in the first team is immense, and we saw a few years ago that he can do it, but has he done it for too many years?

“Marcus’ strength is not goal-getting, but he is not really maturing, and that is a worry. I see a player that when he gets the ball he goes head down running straight into the full-back.

“Where is the trickery? Why not go on the outside or cut in or find a pass? I don’t think you will find a United fan that wants Alejandro Garnacho on the bench instead of Rashford.

“Garnacho is dynamite. He effects games when he comes on, he creates, has a brilliant attitude, scores, assists and the crowd gets behind him. Unfortunately for Marcus, if he wants to get in the team, it will have to be as a number nine, or he doesn’t get a place.”

While United suffered a heavy loss, Rashford was one of the few players in the second half who looked like they wanted to attempt to rectify the situation. He supplied Joshua Zirkzee with two fantastic chances that the Dutch forward, unfortunately, could not convert.

Rashford will now have two weeks’ rest before United’s next game, against Southampton on Saturday, 14 September.
