Manchester United predicted XI vs Brighton, Rúben Amorim makes two changes fans will love
Rúben Amorim is predicted to make two changes that fans will love as Manchester United line up to face Brighton on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.
Manchester United prepare for their second Old Trafford fixture in a week as Brighton & Hove Albion head north to face Rúben Amorim’s men.
The Reds have started the new year on a brighter note after a difficult close to 2024, securing a draw against Liverpool, a penalty shootout victory over Arsenal, and a thrilling 3-1 win against Southampton, highlighted by Amad’s stunning 12-minute hat-trick.
However, the team’s performance against Southampton drew criticism, with their overall display falling short despite the late flurry of goals.
Amorim will be keen to see a more dominant and consistent showing from his players on Sunday afternoon, with several changes to the starting line-up likely.
Amorim expected to make two changes
For the line-up that will face Brighton, André Onana will keep his place in goal, but Leny Yoro is likely to be dropped after a tough fixture against Southampton.
Fans will be pleased if Harry Maguire is reinstated in his place, with the English defender back to being a firm fan favourite at Old Trafford following emphatic performances against Liverpool and Arsenal earlier this month.
He would likely slot into the central defensive area, with Matthijs de Ligt moving to the right and Lisandro Martinez playing on the left.
As for the wing-backs, Diogo Dalot is now back in contention after a one-game ban kept him out of the Southampton win and is likely going to play as a left-back while Noussair Mazraoui transfers back to the right-hand side.
In midfield, both Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte played fewer than 55 minutes against Southampton, so they will likely remain in the starting XI as they require less of rest compared to if they had played the full 90 minutes.
In attack, hat-trick hero Amad will convert back to his right-sided attacking midfield role after playing as a wing-back against Southampton, with Bruno Fernandes starting once again on the left hand side.

Fans have been calling for Joshua Zirkzee to start ahead of Rasmus Højlund as the striker, with Amorim looking likely to grant this wish.
