Rúben Amorim has made his feelings known about the number of fixtures Manchester United are currently playing, so a potential post-season tour may not sit right with him.

Rúben Amorim has spent the last five weeks settling into his role as Manchester United’s head coach after taking over from Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

In his first eight games, Amorim has recorded four wins, one draw, and three defeats across all competitions. While results have been mixed, there are clear signs that his tactical approach is beginning to shape the team.

Amad DialloBruno Fernandes, and Noussair Mazraoui have emerged as standout performers under Amorim, thriving in their roles and becoming key figures in his plans.

Amorim has also navigated a challenging start with composure, addressing several early issues while maintaining a calm and methodical approach to his work, setting the tone for a promising future at the club.

United are planning a post-season tour to Malaysia

According to The Athletic, United are planning on embarking on a post-season tour to Malaysia at the end of the 2024/25 campaign, which would be the first time in the modern era that the club has done so.

The report states that United are currently working on plans to head to Malaysia at the end of the Premier League season, on 25 May when the club face Aston Villa at Old Trafford.

United remain in the FA Cup, and this final will take place on 17 May, while 21 May is when the Europa League final will take place at the San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, Spain.

It is claimed that United would make around £7.96 million from the tour, which would greatly help the club comply with the current Profit and Sustainability rules they are close to breaking.

It is said that the tour is being presented to United by TEG Sports, a global events company initially based in Australia, in partnership with a local Malaysian promoter.

When asked by The Athletic to comment, the club declined, but their sources within United have informed The Athletic that any plans are yet to be finalised and that “the club’s planning for exhibition matches in 2025 is continuing.”

Amorim may not be happy with this decision

Amorim has been very keen to bang the drum that he does not have enough time to train with his squad and that this is mainly caused by the consistent fixtures that he and his side have faced.

When asked what he would like to do if he had more time, the 39-year-old said: “Training. That’s simple. Because we are rotating players. When you rotate players, it’s really hard to work in every connection.

“So, if you are always working with a different guy next to you, in the more or less in the same position, it’s really hard to work on that connection, and we start in the middle of the season, and we already know. So, if I have more time, we will use it to train the team, that’s all.”

If United were to embark on a post-season tour, this might cause a worry for the 39-year-old. It would be at the end of a potentially very tough campaign, with United tipped to go far in the Europa League and having to play out the remainder of he Premier League.

It is also a concern concerning injuries and recovery. An extra game thousands of miles away gives the side less time to recover ahead of pre-season as not all United players would then play in the international fixtures ahead of pre-season next summer.
