90% pass accuracy, 2 chances created: Manchester United star shines in 7-0 international win
Manchester United star Noussair Mazraoui shone again as Morocco defeated Lesotho 7-0 in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Monday evening.
Noussair Mazraoui has been brilliant at Manchester United ever since he signed for the Premier League side.
Joining for a fee of around £12 million from Bayern Munich, Mazraoui embedded himself as one of Erik ten Hag‘s most reliable players and was deeply appreciated by Ruud van Nistelrooy during his interim spell after Ten Hag was sacked.
The 27-year-old has played as a right-back, left-back, and attacking midfielder during his opening months at Old Trafford and has impressed fans with his technical prowess.
With Rúben Amorim having taken over the side as the club’s new head coach, many are expecting Mazraoui to become a star at the club.
Shining with Morocco
While Amorim took charge of his first training session on monyda, he will also be keeping an eye on how his stars away on international duty have fared.
Mazraoui has an exceptional evening on Monday, playing 90 minutes as Morocco thumped Lesotho during their African Cup of Nations qualifier, continuing his fantastic club form on the international stage.
He attempted 69 passes, completing 62 of them with 90% accuracy, creating two chances, and performing six passes into the opposition’s final third.
He also won his only tackle, one foul, and made five recoveries, making him one of the side’s best performers on the night.
Many expect Mazroaui to occupy one of the wing-back roles at United under Amorim, although which side remains debatable.
While he played for Morocco in his natural right-back position, Amorim does like sometimes to play wing-backs with opposite feet, meaning the right-footed star may find himself bombing down the left flank when needed.
