The match referee for Manchester United’s Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford has been confirmed for Rúben Amorim.

Rúben Amorim is set for his second Premier League outing at Old Trafford as Manchester United face Nottingham Forest.

United come into the game off the back of a 2-0 loss to Arsenal, making it vital to pick up points as they aim to improve their standing in the league.

Currently 11th in the table as of Wednesday evening, United risk dropping to 13th depending on other results. They are seven points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City and need to close the gap.

Nottingham Forest, in contrast, have enjoyed an excellent start to the season, sitting sixth. A United victory on Saturday could bring them level on points with Forest, adding extra weight to this clash.

The match officials for the tie have been confirmed.

Confirmed officials

Darren England (pictured below) will be the referee on Saturday afternoon in Manchester. England has officiated five Premier League matches this season, one in the Championship, one in the Carabao Cup, and one in the Champions League.

England has not officiated a United fixture for almost two years, with both of his last refereeing displays for the club coming in the 2022/23 FA Cup campaign in 3-1 wins over Everton and then Reading.

This may be a breath of fresh air for Amorim, as England may hold a more neutral view of United’s players than over officials. In his five Premier League games this season, England has brandished 27 yellow cards, one red due to two yellows, and one straight red card. he has also awarded one penalty.

Mat Wilkes and Akil Howson will be on the sidelines as England’s assistant referees during the game. Josh Smith will separate Amorim and Nuno Espírito Santo as the fourth official on Saturday afternoon.

Paul Tierney has been appointed as the Video Assistant Referee. Sian Massey-Ellis will act as assistant VAR.
