Manchester United could reignite their interest in one exciting striker after it was revealed that he is eager to return to the Premier League this summer.
Matheus Cunha became Manchester United’s first signing of the summer, and the club is now targeting Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.
Both players would strengthen the No.10 role in Ruben Amorim’s system, but United are still in urgent need of a striker.
Following a failed attempt to sign Liam Delap—who has since joined Chelsea—the Red Devils turned their attention to Sporting forward Viktor Gyökeres, who previously played under Amorim.
However, recent reports indicate that the Swedish striker has declined a move to Old Trafford, instead favouring a potential switch to Arsenal.
There are other options being considered at Old Trafford, including Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike, but another exciting player has now emerged on the market.
Duran eager for Premier League return
It has been heavily reported that Jhon Duran is planning to leave Al-Nassr this summer despite having joined the Saudi Pro League side in January.
TeamTalk have claimed that the striker is unhappy in Saudi Arabia and ‘eager’ to make a return to the Premier League in the coming weeks and Al-Nassr are prepared to sanction a loan deal.
Duran looked like one of the best young forwards in England before he left Aston Villa. The 21-year-old has scored 49 goals since his professional debut, including 24 last season.
United were long-standing admirers of Duran and were interested in signing him for just £10 million from Chicago Fire before he eventually moved to Villa Park in 2023.
It remains to be seen whether United will reignite that interest this summer, although he would certainly be an interesting option for the club to consider.
Duran would be perfect United signing
Someone like Duran gives United exactly what they want. He is young and can improve heavily but is already proven to be good enough to play in the Premier League.
With a lot of other options being risky as to whether they will adapt, it could be a great solution for the Reds but they would be unlikely to make a move unless there was a chance of it becoming permanent.
Al-Nassr signed the player for around £65 million and that is a similar amount to what United were willing to pay for Gyokeres. But it is not known whether they would be willing to include a buy option or obligation in any deal.
If United do end up registering their interest, there will undoubtably be other top clubs also trying to convince Duran of a move as well.
