Manchester United told three reasons why Marcus Rashford wants exit, one is their fault
Marcus Rashford, by all accounts, wants to leave Manchester United for a new lease of life in the summer, and the club have been told three reasons why.
Marcus Rashford is on course to leave Manchester United in 2025, following a stunning interview in which the 27-year-old expressed his desire for a fresh challenge.
The forward, who was United’s top scorer with 30 goals during the 2022/23 season under Erik ten Hag, has struggled to replicate that form in recent years. Under Rúben Amorim, Rashford has seen his role diminish, with players like Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes now preferred in key attacking positions.
A product of United’s academy, Rashford’s journey with the club spans nearly two decades. He made a sensational first-team debut at 18, scoring twice against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League, before repeating the feat in his Premier League debut against Arsenal.
Now, with Manchester United reportedly willing to accept offers around £40 million, Rashford is expected to move on, bringing his long association with the club to a close as he seeks new opportunities.
Three reasons Rashford wants to leave United
There has been a lot of speculation as to the other reasons why Rashford may want to depart Old Trafford beyond him citing the desire for a new challange.
Former United winger Lee Sharpe, speaking to The Mirror, has explained that there are likely a further three reasons the 27-year-old wants to leave the club, citing the consistent managerial changes, performances from the side on the pitch, and pressure from the media.
“He is a quiet guy, he isn’t one to be too vocal around the dressing room, he has let his football do the talking, and when he is on form, there is no player like Rashford with his pace and finishing power,” Sharpe said.
“The managerial changes and performances on the pitch from the team could well be something which is a reason for this.
“Plus also the weight of the club being on his shoulders with the pressure to lead from the front. With so much more media scrutiny and focus on the club than in our day, it could be a reason as well and Marcus hasn’t been able to deal with it.”
One of these three problems is the fault of the club
While Rashford must accept his part of the responsibility for the team’s poor performances at the club, the consistent managerial changes will not have helped.
Rashford has been a first-team player at the club for nine seasons and, during that time, has had years of brilliance dotted between inconsistent performances. Still, he has also served under five separate bosses, which is the club’s fault for failing to build a consistent project.
Although it feels as if the start of a new and long-term project is underway with Amorim, Rashford feels surplus to requirements, with other attackers thriving in a system where there’s little space for the Academy graduate.
The media pressure on Rashford has been relentless, and although a certain amount of criticism from fans is justified, he has also been vilified by the media for positive acts such as campaigning to give poor children food as well as buying his own mother a house.
Overall, it feels as if a new start for Rashford is best for all parties, but each party must also accept potions of the blame as to how the situation has unfolded.
