Something is “not right” with one Manchester United star who has looked unhappy under Rúben Amorim, explains Alan Shearer.

Rúben Amorim has been getting to know his new Manchester United squad during his opening month in charge of the Old Trafford club.

So far, they have a record of three wins, one draw, and two losses across his opening six games as head coach, with Rasmus Højlund, Noussiar Mazraoui, and Amad Diallo highlights of the 3-4-3 system so far.

However, others, such as Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Diogo Dalot, have needed extra time to adapt to the new formation and style of play, with the trio having been criticised for failing to live up to expetations.

With the 2025 winter and summer windows approaching, many are theorising who Amorim may choose to sell once he is able to make his own additions to the squad.

Rashford is ‘unhappy’

Rashford has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this week, with the club reportedly eyeing a potential sale of their Academy star as an aid to help fix their current financial struggles.

Although the 27-year-old has scored three goals since Amorim joined, he has failed to pick up form like many of his teammates, with former Premier League striker Alan Shearer fearing that the player is unhappy under Amorim.

“I don’t know him personally. I saw him three years ago scoring 30 goals a season, so it is in there, but we haven’t seen anywhere near that for a long time now,” Shearer told The Mirror.

“I don’t know if there’s anything going on in his life or anything like that.

“There’s only two guys who can answer, his manager and him with his attitude and his performances and his belief. His performances haven’t been there for a while, he’s gone from there to down there in such a short space of time, so clearly something’s not right.

“I don’t know why he’s gone from there three years ago to where he is now, but I don’t see a happy player. It would be wrong for me to speculate, I don’t know what’s going on around him.”

United’s demands for Rashford

According to MailSport, United would be willing to listen to offers of around £40 million but are unlikely to accept offers in the January window.

This is a significant drop from his valuation after he scored 30 goals in one season under Erik ten Hag, which was at around £100 million.

Even last summer, United saw Rashford’s market value at around £80 million amid interest from Qatar and Paris St. Germain.

It’s been reported that the club are worried off-field issues and his lifestyle is preventing him from performing at his best at Old Trafford, which leads them to be open to a sale.
