Man Utd loanee “head and shoulders” above teammates after position change, he could change Ruben Amorim’s mind

One of Manchester United’s loanees impressed on the weekend despite his team losing and finding themselves in the relegation zone.

Manchester United experienced a busy summer transfer window, adding four new first-team players, with Senne Lammens completing a deadline-day move.

The club also sanctioned several high-profile exits, most notably Alejandro Garnacho’s transfer to Chelsea and Antony’s switch to Real Betis, after both were deemed outside of Ruben Amorim’s long-term plans.

United were just as proactive in the loan market, allowing a number of academy talents to head out in search of regular senior football.

The summer also ushered in a new era for Jonny Evans, who, following his retirement, took on the position of Head of Loans and Pathways at the club. Under his leadership, plenty of academy prospects have been loaned out for this campaign.

United loanee “head and shoulders” above teammates after position change

Dan Gore was among those to head out on loan and he returned to League One side Rotherham after spending time there last season too.

The United midfielder has experienced major injury troubles over the last couple of years but was considered one of the most highly rated Academy talents beforehand.

He has had a strong start to the season and was Rotherham’s standout player during their 1-0 defeat to Stockport County on the weekend.

With four interceptions, three tackles and 17 recoveries, Gore clearly impressed defensively. He also completed 34 passes and two out of three take-ons.

While many of his teammates disappointed, Gore received an 8/10 rating by the Rotherham Advertiser for his performance. “Head and shoulders above his teammates,” they noted.

“That deep-lying, string-pulling midfield role suits him. Passed well, and when he decided to move with the ball at his feet, he really moved. Made things happen.”

Gore could change Amorim’s mind

It was reported in the summer that United would be open to the sale of Gore but in the end he only departed on a loan deal.

Ruben Amorim has not been able to see the best of Gore due to his injury setbacks but the Portuguese manager could have his mind changed if the 20-year-old continues to shine on loan.

The young midfielder has played in advanced midfield positions but shining in that deeper role would be interesting, as United will need at least two more midfielders in those deeper positions next summer.

While one is expected to be a big money signing, Amorim could look within the club for more depth and Gore could convince the manager to consider him.
