Man Utd loanee ‘doesn’t want to return’ in January despite being able to solve Rúben Amorim’s glaring problem

A Manchester United loanee has stated that he ‘doesn’t want to return’ in January, despite him being able to resolve Ruben Amorim’s headache.

One of the main dilemmas that Manchester United looked to resolve over the course of the summer transfer window was their goalkeeping department, which had been a problem area for a few years.

Ruben Amorim’s first summer at the club saw a lot of movement, both in and out of the club, with a plethora of changes made between the sticks.

The Reds recruited Belgian shot-stopper Senne Lammens on deadline day, although the 23-year-old had to wait until a home fixture in the Premier League against Sunderland for his debut.

Lammens impressed on his debut and has held down his spot over Altay Bayindir since. Despite this, there is still a glaring problem regarding the depth in this position, especially considering a United loanee’s reluctance to return.

Vitek aims to stay in Bristol

As reported by BBC Sport, United loanee Radek Vitek has said that he would like to play as many games as he can for Bristol City, as he aims to stay until the end of the season.

Vitek has impressed for the Robins since his arrival in the summer, keeping five clean sheets in 15 EFL Championship matches, and his goal is to continue his fine form in Bristol.

“At the moment, the main goal is probably to stay here the whole season and play as many matches as possible,” Vitek told BBC Radio Bristol.

“Every game brings different challenges, and that’s how you get as a young keeper the most experience, because you can be third goalkeeper on the training pitch when you’re at Manchester United or big clubs like that, but it will never give you the experience from the field.”

“That’s my plan, but I will do my maximum for that and we will see – let’s take game by game and now I’m focusing to play for Bristol City and do my best,” he added.

“One day it would be a dream to play for Manchester United, but I take game by game, and I know there’s a big challenge in front of me, but I want to improve every week.”

United’s depth dilemma

Having seen Andre Onana head to Turkey in September, United have been left with a lack of depth in their goalkeeping department, which they will be hoping doesn’t become an issue.

The Reds still have Bayindir at their disposal, although, since losing his spot following a 3-1 defeat to Brentford, he has yet to return to action.

Although it will probably be better for Vitek’s long-term development if he sees out the duration of his loan to the Championship, he would provide Lammens with very healthy competition.

Once the Czech goalkeeper’s loan move has run its course, then we will maybe see him compete with Lammens for the number one spot at United, but until then, it will remain between Bayindir and the Belgian.
