Manchester United have an increasingly limited squad to choose from as Erik ten Hag selects his XI to face Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Manchester United‘s 4-3 loss against Chelsea has many fans feeling low, with Erik ten Hag‘s men now sitting almost too far from Champions League spots.

However, they have the chance to make fans proud again as they host Liverpool at Old Trafford. They are returning to the famous ground for the first time since defeating Jurgen Klopp’s men in the FA Cup three weekends prior.

Against Chelsea, United had two immediate injury worries. Raphaël Varane had to be taken off at half-time for a second game in a row, while his replacement, Jonny Evans, had to be substituted just 20 minutes later, with Willy Kambwala then covering.

However, after the tie, Ten Hag revealed that he also “had” to take Casemiro off in the second half, hinting that the Brazilian may also have a problem. There has been no update since on the fitness of all three players.

In more general news, United will remain without Lisandro Martínez, Luke Shaw, or Victor Lindelöf, who are all expected back sometime next month. Tyrell Malacia remains out until next season, while Anthony Martial may return soon.

For Liverpool, Wataru Endo is expected to be fit after sitting out the meeting against Sheffield United on Thursday due to a knock.

“That’s my information. We rested him today,” Klopp said. “We had a feeling there could have been a chance for tonight, but if we leave him out, then there is a big chance for Sunday. I hope that didn’t change.”

Joel Matip (knee) and Thiago Alcantara (muscular) are both out through long-term problems, while Liverpool will also be without Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, and Diogo Jota, although the trio are close to returning to full training.
