“Outstanding…” Two Manchester United stars have Rúben Amorim transfer fates sealed vs Liverpool
Two Manchester United players have seen their transfer fates sealed following the side’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United fought back to secure a dramatic 2-2 draw against league leaders Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, as Rúben Amorim’s side displayed grit and determination to earn a share of the spoils.
The match started with United asserting themselves, looking composed on the ball and determined to limit Liverpool’s attacking threat. As the half progressed, United grew in confidence, and Rasmus Højlund came close to breaking the deadlock just before halftime.
United came out firing after the break, and Lisandro Martínez gave Amorim’s side the lead with a well-taken finish, set up brilliantly by Bruno Fernandes. The goal stunned the home crowd, but Liverpool responded quickly. Cody Gakpo equalised with a composed finish just before the hour mark, reigniting the contest.
The momentum shifted further when Liverpool were awarded a penalty after Matthijs de Ligt was adjudged to have handled the ball. Mohammed Salah stepped up and calmly slotted it home, putting the hosts 2-1 ahead with 20 minutes to play.
Amorim reacted by making an attacking change, introducing Alejandro Garnacho, whose impact was immediate. The young winger set up Amad Diallo for a cool finish, bringing United level with ten minutes left on the clock.
The closing stages saw both teams throw everything forward in search of a winner, but neither could find the decisive goal. The match ended in an entertaining draw, with United showing their mettle to leave Anfield with a well-earned point.
United’s “outstanding” players against Liverpool
Former United player Gary Neville was quick to praise Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Bruno Fernandes for the show they put on at Anfield.
“I thought we [Man United] were absolutely brilliant,” Neville told the Sky Sports panel following the result.
“I thought Mainoo, Ugarte, and Fernandes controlled midfield. And [Ryan] Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, and [Alexis] Mac Allister have been outstanding all season.
“They’ve overrun teams in there, and I thought they [United’s midfielders] really did well, those three. The backline did well, but I thought those three were the standout players. I thought it was an outstanding performance, yeah.”
Two transfer fates sealed under Amorim
The midfield performance was vastly different to what was on display against Newcastle United, where Christian Eriksen and Casemiro were torn apart during the opening 30 minutes before Amorim chose to introduce Mainoo into the middle of the park instead.
The ageing duo were unused substitutes against Liverpool, and following the brilliant displays of Mainoo and Ugarte in particular, both players will leave United in 2025.
Eriksen’s contract runs out at the end of June, but United are keen to offload him as soon as possible if the right offer arrives in January.

Casemiro’s recent displays have been anything but encouraging, and Saudi Arabian clubs have targeted him. However, they would have to deregister some players to fit the Brazilian in the team due to a foreign player quota.
Now more than ever it’s clear that their transfer fates under Amorim have been sealed and a new dawn is growing at the club without either of them involved.
