Rúben Amorim is predicted to start Patrick Dorgu for the first time as Manchester United welcome Leicester City to Old Trafford in the FA Cup on Friday evening.

Manchester United continue their FA Cup campaign in the fourth round as they welcome Leicester City to Old Trafford.

The fixture sees the return of Ruud van Nistelrooy, who briefly took charge of United for four games following Erik ten Hag’s departure before Rúben Amorim assumed the role. After leaving Old Trafford, the Dutchman was appointed as Leicester City’s manager.

United’s previous FA Cup outing was a dramatic contest away to Arsenal. Bruno Fernandes put the Reds ahead, but Diogo Dalot’s red card shifted the momentum, allowing the hosts to equalise and push the game into extra time. After 120 minutes of intense football, United prevailed on penalties.

Amorim’s side won five of their seven matches in January but are eager to bounce back from a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. The clash with Leicester presents the ideal opportunity to respond.

Decision made on Dorgu’s debut

With Luke Shaw unavailable and Tyrell Malacia on loan, new signing Patrick Dorgu is expected to make his first start for United on Friday evening.

With André Onana being used in the Premier League, Amorim may choose to hand Bayındır another start following his third-round penalty heroics against Arsenal, which would be well desreved.

In the back three, Lisandro Martínez is now out for the season, and with Leicester a Premier League side, Harry Maguire may be the safest bet to cover at left centre-back, with Matthijs de Ligt in the middle and Noussair Mazraoui on the right.

Leny Yoro played 90 minutes last week against Crystal Palace, and with the club still keen to manage the 19-year-old’s minutes, he may be rested. While new signing Ayden Heaven may be in the squad, he is not expected to start.

With Dorgu on the left flank, this will finally give Rúben Amorim the chance to see Diogo Dalot have a run of fixtures on his more natural right hand side after having to spend the last few months as an auxiliary left wing-back.

In midfield, Bruno Fernandes is expected to continue his role in the middle of the park, while Toby Collyer may be handed another start after impressing during his minutes with the team so far.

As for the attacking players, with the club having not played in almost a week, Amad will likely resume on the right side, with Alejandro Garnacho continuing his positive form on the left.

Kobbie Mainoo has been trialled of late in the attacking midfield positions, so there is still a chance that the English midfielder could play over Garnacho on the left.

As for the striker situation, neither Rasmus Højlund or Joshua Zirkzee started against Crystal Palace, but with Leicester City likely to play a low block, this may play better into the hands of Zirkzee, who is often better than Højlund with his back to goal and in tight spaces.

United expected XI vs Leicester

Bayındır, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Maguire, Dalot, Collyer, Fernandes, Dorgu, Amad, Garnacho, Zirkzee.
