Manchester United have nine injured players as Erik ten Hag looks to guide his squad to Champions League football and FA Cup glory.

Erik ten Hag‘s side left with an incredible victory against Liverpool in the FA Cup before the players jetted off around the world to represent their countries in this international break.

The United boss will hope that certain players can rest and recover while others can creep closer to a return from injury.

At the moment, United have nine players unavailable with injury. Here, UtdDistrict will provide the full overview of each absentee and how their recovery is going.

Lisandro Martinez

Lisandro Martínez is expected to be fit to play at least some part in United’s upcoming away fixture against Brentford in the Premier League.

He has been out with a knee injury since early February, but he has been training with the Argentina national team and is deemed fit to return to action once the international break ends.

Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire had to pull out of England’s squad on Sunday after scans after their 1-0 loss against Brazil revealed a potential injury.

However, the injury is not expected to be too bad, and he has returned to Manchester United for further scans. Erik ten Hag is expected to give an update on Maguire’s situation this Friday.

Casemiro

Casemiro suffered a muscle injury before the FA Cup victory against Liverpool and was consequently forced to withdraw from Brazil duty for the upcoming internationals.

According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, the issue is the recurrence of a hamstring injury that left the former Real Madrid star unavailable for much of this season’s Christmas period. There has been no update since.

Luke Shaw

Luke Shaw is expected to be fit to play once again right at the end of this campaign, although Gareth Southgate admitted recently that he will be “right on the edge”.

“He’s going to be right on the edge of the season,” Southgate told reporters last week. “We know now to play seven matches in a Euros is highly unlikely.”

Jonny Evans

Jonny Evans dropped out of the game against Liverpool with a knock in training the day before and did not travel with Northern Ireland for international fixtures to ensure a full recovery.

He will be available for United’s upcoming fixture against Brentford on Saturday.

Tyrell Malacia

Although original predictions had Tyrell Malacia returning to action at the beginning of 2024 after his knee surgeries during he second half of 2023, it is now expected that he will not be fit until next season.

This is according to a report from the MailOnline, where it is explained that he has been working on his recovery at Carrington and is focussed on getting fit for the start of next season.

Omari Forson

Omari Forson dropped out of the United squad to face Liverpool with an unspecified injury. “The rest is the same squad apart from Omari Forson. He dropped out, he has an injury.” said Ten Hag.

His return to action is currently unknown, but reports at the time stated that the injury was not serious.

Anthony Martial

Anthony Martial underwent groin surgery earlier this year which originally cast him unavailable for around 10 weeks.

He is expected to return in April and could play a part at the end of the season before an expected summer departure, as United have not renewed his contract, which expires at the end of June.

Altay Bayındır

Altay Bayındır suffered a muscular strain that kept him out of the United squad to face Liverpool. He has made just one appearance for the club since signing in the summer. He is expected to be back available for against Brentford.

The club said at the time: “The 25-year-old, who made his Reds debut in the fourth round at Newport County, has a muscle strain which is expected to keep him out for around two weeks.”
