Manchester United set £33m price tag for ‘absolutely hopeless’ player, January move unlikely

Manchester United have had significant problems this season and several players have failed to impress under new head coach Ruben Amorim.

Manchester United’s results under Rúben Amorim have been inconsistent, with only four wins in his first 10 matches, highlighting the challenges he faces at Old Trafford.

Although some players have thrived under Amorim’s system, others have struggled to adapt. It’s clear that the 39-year-old will require reinforcements to fully implement his vision.

Summer signing Joshua Zirkzee is one of the players who have not set the world alight under Amorim’s leadership so far.

The Dutchman has had a really difficult start to life in Manchester and has been described as “absolutely hopeless” when leading the line.

He has scored four goals and registered two assists in 26 appearances this season. His form has led to question marks over his future already.

United set price tag for Zirkzee

According to a report from Quotidiano Sportivo, it has been described as ‘impossible’ for the 23-year-old to leave United on loan in January.

However, it was explained that an offer in the region of £33 million could be enough to tempt United to part ways with the summer signing on a permanent basis.

That figure is just under what the Reds paid Bologna for the forward less than six months ago. Juventus are among the clubs linked with him now.

But the aforementioned report also mentioned that Zirkzee does not want to leave United and is ‘desperate’ to succeed under Amorim.

It was added that the striker is confident that he will not be sold in the mid-season window.

Does Zirkzee deserve more chances?

Zirkzee has made 18 appearances in the Premier League but just six of those have been starts.

The 4-0 win against Everton was the only league fixture where he has played 90 minutes and he scored twice in that encounter.

The 23-year-old is currently averaging 0.41 goals per 90 minutes played, and while that isn’t the most extraordinary number, it is the best within the United squad.

There is certainly no guarantee that he succeeds at Old Trafford but he seems to be getting more chances than his competitor Højlund. His movement in and around the box is better than expected.

He will be hoping to get more minutes on the pitch in the coming weeks to try and prove himself to Amorim and United fans.
