Man United fans unconvinced by massive transfer with Old Trafford club “delighted”
Manchester United fans are unconvinced by the club’s reported pursuit of Benfica midfielder Joao Neves despite the club being “delighted” with his performances.
Manchester United have been linked with teenage midfield sensation Joao Neves for a number of months, and the transfer could be a potential nine-figure one this summer.
Erik ten Hag‘s team are reportedly looking to sign a midfielder if United decide to move Casemiro on in the coming summer. Neves has a release clause of around £86 million in his contract (€100 million).

According to Portuguese outlet Record, Signing Benfica midfielder Joao Neves is one of United’s priorities for next season. They have more than around £86 million ready to convince Benfica to sell the player.
United have reportedly Joao Neves many times this season and will again send an official to do so during Benfica’s derby against Sporting on Tuesday evening.
United are further said to be ‘delighted’ with his performances season and want him in their midfield for the next campaign.
United fans, however, are less convinced than the club, with some claiming that it is “too much money for an unproven player.”
“I don’t think the club will spend that money on a player, there are cheaper options,” another explained.
I think most of Europe will be interested in him but unless utd learn how to sell a lot of players and get good money for them, spending this kind of money on any player seams very unlikely,” a third concluded.
Bruno Fernandes, Neves’ international teammate, was full of praise for the teenager a few months ago.
“I would love to have him at United, he has top quality,” Fernandes said while on international duty in November. “But he’s an excellent player and an excellent kid, very professional. He will have a bright future wherever you go.
“I would really like to have him by my side because he has quality and will have a bright future. It depends on him. What I want most is the best for him.”
