Rúben Amorim is predicted to select an “exciting” Academy star as Manchester United prepare to face Ipswich Town in the Premier League amid a fresh injury scare.

Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United are still searching for their first Premier League win of the month and will look to put an end to that run when they welcome Ipswich Town to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

Their last league outing saw them draw 2-2 away at Everton, with second-half goals from Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte securing a point after another slow start.

United have struggled to begin games with intensity, often finding themselves needing to respond after falling behind.

With just two clean sheets in all competitions this season, defensive vulnerabilities remain a concern. However, facing an Ipswich side fighting relegation, Amorim will be hoping for a dominant display and a much-needed victory.

Injury scare forces squad change

Following the club’s recent draw against Everton, news broke that United were sweating over the fitness of defender Noussair Mazraoui, who was withdrawn after 70 minutes and replaced by Leny Yoro.

It was stated that United feared he had sustained an injury to his knee during the Goodison Park clash, and the player was set to undergo scans to assess the extent of his injury on Monday.

With the Ipswich tie kicking off just days after the Everton game, the chances are that Mazraoui may not make the squad, which means Amorim will need to delve back into his Academy reserves to make up the numbers.

In any case, the most logical decision would be to select 17-year-old full-back Harry Amass, with calls to hand the “exciting” Academy talent his debut existing from earlier this year.

Aside from Mazraoui, it’s thought that there are no further injury issues from the Everton tie, although Amorim is expected to provide a full assessment during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Chido Obi and Sekou Kone may be included for the third game in a row, while goalkeepers Hubert Graczyk and Elyh Harrison may also be handed spots with little news on the fitness of reserve shot-stopper Altay Bayındır.

Aside from those selected as part of the squad against Everton, no further returns are thought to be close. Toby Collyer may make a comeback in the next few weeks, while Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo are likely to remain out for longer.

Amad and Lisandro Martínez are not expected back until the next campaign, with the latter potentially out until November.
