The Premier League have confirmed which referee will officiate Manchester United vs Ipswich Town, and Rúben Amorim has faced him before.

Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United are still searching for their first Premier League win of the month and will aim to end that run when they host Ipswich Town at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

United’s last league match ended in a 2-2 draw away at Everton, with second-half goals from Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte salvaging a point after yet another sluggish start.

Slow beginnings have been a recurring issue, with United often forced to chase games after conceding early.

Defensive struggles have also been evident, with just two clean sheets across all competitions this season. However, with Ipswich battling relegation, Amorim will be eager for his side to show more control and secure a much-needed victory.

The Premier League have confirmed who will officiate the tie.

Confirmed officials

Darren England (pictured below) will be the referee on Wednesday evening in Manchester. England has officiated 12 Premier League matches this season, three in other domestic competitions, and one UEFA tie.

So far this season, England has issued 47 yellow cards in the Premier League and 66 across all competitions. He has issued two straight red cards and one via two yellow cards, and has awarded three penalties this season, two in the Premier League and one in the Championship.

England has met United once this season, officiating the side’s 3-2 loss against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford, with Amorim at the helm.

During the game, Neil Davies and Akil Howson will serve as England’s assistant referees. Sam Barrott will be the fourth official on Wednesday evening, separating Amorim and McKenna.

Craig Pawson has been appointed as the Video Assistant Referee – he held the same position for United’s recent loss against Crystal Palace. Adam Nunn will act as assistant VAR.
