Two changes, Leny Yoro returns – Manchester United predicted XI vs Ipswich (Premier League)

Rúben Amorim is predicted to make two changes as Manchester United line up to face Ipswich Town in the Premier League at Old Trafford.

Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United are still searching for their first Premier League win of the month and will look to change that when they welcome Ipswich Town to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

Their last league outing ended in a 2-2 draw at Everton, with second-half goals from Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte rescuing a point after another sluggish start.

United have developed a habit of starting slowly, often needing to respond after falling behind early, which is costing the side valuable points in the English top flight.

With just two clean sheets across all competitions this season, defensive issues persist. However, facing an Ipswich side struggling in the relegation zone, Amorim will be hoping for a stronger display and a return to winning ways.

Amorim expected to make two changes

For the game against Ipswich, André Onana is expected to remain in goal due to a lack of other options, despite many fans being angered by his consistent parrying into dangerous areas.

Meanwhile, although he was selected in the squad for Wednesday evening, a potential injury to Noussair Mazraoui means Amorim may choose to replace the Moroccan international as a precaution.

The most obvious solution would be to see Leny Yoro return to the XI as a left centre-back, with Harry Maguire in the middle and Matthijs de Ligt swapped to his more natural right-hand side.

As for the wing-backs, Diogo Dalot and Patrick Dorgu are expected to continue on the right and left flanks, respectively, with the latter garnering a lot of praise for his “brilliant” display against Everton.

United’s two-goal comeback against Everton was mostly inspired by Fernandes dropping to a deeper midfield role alongside Ugarte, and the right decision for Amorim would be to continue this pairing on Wednesday evening.

Alejandro Garnacho was thrown onto the pitch in the final 30 minutes against Everton, and although many see him as a player who performs better on the bench, if Fernandes is to play deeper, he is the only viable option to replace him on the left.

Joshua Zirkzee has been performing well as a right-sided attacking midfielder in the absence of Amad and looks set to continue this role, with Rasmus Højlund therefore being the only first-team striker available to start up front.

17-year-old Chido Obi has come off the bench for United’s last two fixtures and replaced Højlund up front, but Amorim has been keen to protect young players when he can, meaning Obi is unlikely to start.

Onana, De Ligt, Maguire, Yoro, Dalot, Ugarte, Fernandes, Dorgu, Zirkzee, Højlund, Garnacho.
