Erik ten Hag will have to contend against Real Betis without either Leny Yoro or Rasmus Højlund available for Manchester United’s selection.

Manchester United have completed three pre-season fixtures so far in the summer of 2024, with two more to go. They suffered a 1-0 defeat to Rosenborg but rebounded with a 2-0 victory over Rangers in Scotland, thanks to goals from Amad Diallo and Joe Hugill. New signing Leny Yoro made his unofficial debut after his £52 million transfer from Lille.

In their first USA fixture, United faced Arsenal and lost 2-1 but won the pre-arranged penalty shootout 4-3, giving the fans something to cheer about.

Next, United will take on Real Betis at 03:00 BST on Tuesday, 1 August, at the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego. The pre-season tour will conclude with a final match in Columbia, South Carolina, at 00:45 BST on Sunday, 4 August.

Although the Arsenal game provided more vital minutes to key players like Amad and Mason Mount, it also brought significant injury concerns. Both goalscorer Rasmus Højlund and centre-back Yoro had to leave the pitch during the first half.

On Tuesday afternoon, Yoro was spotted leaving training on crutches and with a protective boot on his left foot. United are currently fearful that he could be out for a “prolonged period,” and the club are due to issue an update on Yoro later this week.

Meanwhile, some relatively positive news has surfaced surrounding Højlund. Although he came off after fewer than 20 minutes against Arsenal, he was spotted out and about on the players’ rest day without much trouble.

There has been no confirmation on whether or not he will be able to play against Real Betis, but the player has not been spotted in training over the last few days, so the likelihood is he will be left out.

Meanwhile, the club confirmed that Victor Lindelöf has returned to full first-team training after missing both the Rangers and Arsenal fixtures.

“Victor Lindelof resumed full training at UCLA on Sunday, after missing the opening games of Manchester United’s pre-season,” a club statement read.

Beyond this, the rest of the 29-man squad that Ten Hag brought to the USA are fit to play, including Harry Magire, who returned to the team against Arsenal for the first time in three months.

Following their international commitments, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes, and Diogo Dalot remain on holiday and will report to Carrington. Mainoo was spotted in LA this week but will not join the team.
