Rúben Amorim could experience a first for Manchester United in the Premier League as they prepare to face Tottenham away from home on Saturday afternoon.
Rúben Amorim’s men are unbeaten in their last four Premier League fixtures as they prepare to take on Tottenham Hotspur in North London on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester United’s recent results have seen a significant improvement in form, with wins over Sunderland, Liverpool, and Brighton, as well as draws against Nottingham Forest. The team have lost just one fixture since a 3-0 defeat against Manchester City in mid-September.
As for Tottenham, Thomas Frank’s men sit level on points with United, but their home form has been dire this season. They have won just one of their five home fixtures this season, a 3-0 demolition of Burnley, with their most recent home tie being a 1-0 loss against Chelsea.
However, the two teams played each other on four occasions last season, including the Europa League final, with Tottenham triumphing each time. With Amorim’s men travelling to London this weekend, they will be out for revenge.
Amorim could have a full squad to choose from
It has been just over nine months since United’s fans last saw Lisandro Martínez kick a ball for the club, with the centre-back’s ACL injury against Crystal Palace in February having ruled him out ever since.
However, the Argentina international returned to first-team training last week, and although he did not travel with the squad to face Nottingham Forest, there is a genuine chance he could be with the team as they head to London.
Harry Maguire missed the Brighton win with a knock but returned to the squad against Forest, although he remained an unused substitute.
Unless further injuries are picked up this week in training, Amorim will be able to select from a fully fit United squad for the first time since joining the club just over a year ago.
Frank has possible injury problems
As for the opposition, Frank has a few injury problems he may have to consider ahead of welcoming United this weekend. But, before facing United, Tottenham will host Danish side Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
In preparation for that match, three key Tottenham players were missing from Monday afternoon’s training session — including arguably their standout performer of the season so far.
According to local London reports, several notable absences were reported from training. Lucas Bergvall was not involved, likely due to concussion protocols after being forced off early against Chelsea.
Djed Spence was also missing, his last public appearance coming after the 1-0 defeat, where he appeared to ignore manager Frank during an awkward exchange.
The most surprising omission, however, was Mohammed Kudus — Tottenham’s most influential attacking player this season.
