Man Utd injury news vs Nottingham Forest, Rúben Amorim confirms “quality” star a doubt after Lisandro Martínez

Rúben Amorim has confirmed that he is still waiting to hear about one of his current Manchester United crop as they prepare to face Nottingham Forest.

Manchester United head into the weekend in fine form as Rúben Amorim’s side gear up for a Premier League trip to Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds have hit their stride with three consecutive victories, seeing off Sunderland 2-0, edging past Liverpool 2-1, and putting on a show in a 4-2 win over Brighton at Old Trafford last time out.

Forest’s campaign has been far less stable, with the Tricky Trees already on their third manager of the season as Sean Dyche takes charge.

United’s strong run has lifted them to sixth in the Premier League table, moving above Liverpool, while Forest sit 18th with five points from nine games — setting up what promises to be a lively encounter at The City Ground.

Amorim still waiting on Maguire latest

Earlier on Thursday, United confirmed through their social media channels that Lisandro Martínez has returned to full team training following his ACL injury in February. However, Amorim has already confirmed that the centre-back will not be travelling to Nottingham with the squad.

“He [Martinez] wants to go to this one, he is not going to this one, he is going to take time,” the head coach said on Thursday afternoon. “He started training with us, but we had to change some things in the exercise for him, so slowly, he is going to get better.

“He is really good, he is really good, and he gives us that edge in every training session, and that is also really good for us.”

As for the rest of the squad, the United boss confirmed that, bar Harry Maguire, the remainder of the squad are fit.

“The rest of the guys, we have one more day [of training], I don’t know about Harry Maguire. I think the rest is fit.”

Amorim working in crosses in training

United’s striker Benjamin Šeško has scored twice and provided one assist in his last three starts, though none of these contributions have come from aerial situations.

While Šeško has shown excellent ability in the air at times this season, United have not made full use of that strength. Encouragingly, the club’s latest training video showed several senior players practising crosses from the byline, suggesting a renewed emphasis on this approach.

Šeško was absent from the session after playing 82 minutes against Brighton, but rejoined training with the other regular starters on Tuesday.

With players like Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu and Mason Mount already sharpening their crossing on Monday, it seems likely that Amorim will make delivery into the box a key focus for the coming fixture.
