Rúben Amorim handed “very important” injury update as two Manchester United stars still unavailable
Rúben Amorim has been handed an injury update on a “very important” player as two Manchester United stars were not spotted in training on Wednesday morning.
Manchester United travel to Romania on Thursday evening for their final Europa League group stage fixture against FCSB.
After drawing their first three matches, United have since won four in a row, climbing from 21st to 4th in the standings. Rúben Amorim sees the competition as a prime opportunity to secure his first trophy at the club.
Their latest European victory came against Rangers last week, which they followed up with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League. With four wins from six matches in 2025, they are building strong momentum, but FCSB will provide a stern test.
The Romanian side currently sit 8th in the table and need a victory to secure automatic qualification for the knockout rounds.
Teams finishing between 9th and 24th will have to navigate a two-legged play-off, while the bottom eight will be eliminated from the competition.
United welcome Shaw back to training
The club held an open training session on Wednesday morning before they departed to Romania, and it was revealed that Luke Shaw had returned to training after spending the last few months sidelined.
Amorim has previously described Shaw as a “very important” player for his squad, with the England international able to play both at left centre-back and left wing-back, but his consistent injuries have left fans frustrated.
Within the training session, only Jonny Evans and Mason Mount were the only players missing. While there has been no update on the fitness of Evans, Mount is expected back in March.
Victor Lindelöf recently returned to training after a month-long absence, while Matthijs de Ligt has continued to train despite early withdrawals during the team’s last two fixtures.
United’s confirmed travelling squad
On Wednesday afternoon, United announced that Amorim had selected 21 players to make the trip to Bucharest.
Despite being spotted in training, Marcus Rashford missed out, while no Academy players have been chosen to make the trip to Eastern Europe.
United’s travelling squad can be read below.
Goalkeepers: Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton, Andre Onana.
Defenders: Diogo Dalot, Matthijs de Ligt, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro.
Midfielders: Casemiro, Toby Collyer, Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte.
Forwards: Amad, Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee.
