Rashford, Maguire, Yoro: Manchester United latest injury news as club survive injury scare
Manchester United have survived a minor injury scare as Ruud van Nistelrooy prepares his side to face PAOK in the Europa League.
Manchester United are setting their sights on a first Europa League win of the 2024/25 season as Ruud van Nistelrooy‘s team prepares to face Greek side PAOK on Thursday evening.
United’s European journey so far has been rocky, with three draws – a 1-1 against FC Twente, a 3-3 thriller with FC Porto, and another 1-1 against Fenerbahce – placing them 21st in the standings. They currently trail the top eight by four points, the threshold for automatic knockout-stage qualification.

Despite scoring five goals over these three games, defensive lapses have consistently seen United surrender their leads, prompting critical questions about the team’s setup and defensive resilience.
However, with five games left and their most challenging fixtures likely behind them, there is still hope for a turnaround. If United can tighten their defence and capitalise on their scoring ability, they can rise through the ranks and secure a place in the knockout stages.
Positive injury updates
After a few weeks of feeling as if players have been dropping like flies, Van Nisterooy offered some positive updates on multiple players.
Cameras on Wednesday morning picked up that 18-year-old Leny Yoro is back in training with the squad. He did not complete the entire session, but he is edging back to full fitness and may feature after the international break.
“He’s been managed very well after his injury in pre-season,” Van Nistelrooy said. “It was obviously going to be a long one. Big moment, first time back in team training.
“He’ll be back partially over the coming weeks, and we’ll look to get him on board as quick as possible.”
Van Nistelrooy also explained that long-term absentee Tyrell Malacia is close to returning and has been able to take part in full sessions for a few weeks after a 15-month injury layoff.
“Tyrell is the furthest [along] at the moment,” added the interim head coach. “He’s been part of team training for a couple of weeks now, fully in team training with no restrictions. It’s good for him to plan game minutes, maybe in the under-21s, we have to see.”
Further, Van Nistelrooy explained that Harry Maguire is still working on his rehabilitation, while Luke Shaw is training on grass and may be able to rejoin first-team training soon.
“Harry is still inside working on his rehab; Luke also does pitch work like he did today, and he’s progressing there to do hopefully partial team training soon.” Christian Eriksen was also spotted in training after missing the last two games due to an injury.
United survived a slight injury scare earlier this morning after Marcus Rashford was spotted training away from the group. However, he eventually joined in, and Van Nistelrooy has confirmed that there is no problem with the winger.
Midfield woes
Mason Mount has returned to team training as he builds his fitness, but there is no news on Kobbie Mainoo, Toby Collyer, or Dan Gore.
Kobbie Mainoo is expected to return to training during the international break, while Toby Collyer is expected to be out until the end of the month due to injury.
Dan Gore has not been seen in recent weeks.
