Manchester United have been delivered the latest on Kobbie Mainoo’s fitness as Erik ten Hag prepares to face Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United are gearing up to return to Premier League action with an away game against Aston Villa, marking their seventh fixture of the season.

Erik ten Hag‘s team has had a rough start, winning only three of their ten matches so far. In their latest match, they let a 2-0 lead slip away against FC Porto, needing a last-minute header from Harry Maguire to secure a 3-3 draw.

Currently, United are in 13th place on the league table, while Aston Villa is soaring under Unai Emery, sitting in 5th place and just two points behind league leaders Liverpool.

In their most recent outing, Aston Villa defeated Bayern Munich 1-0 in the Champions League with a stunning goal from substitute Jhon Duran.

United have had a fresh update on Kobbie Mainoo’s fitness delivered following their draw with Porto. Although Ten Hag confirmed on Thursday that they would have to wait to see if the 19-year-old was fit, he was spotted training with the squad on Friday morning.

Ten Hag stated before the Porto tie that both Alejandro Garnacho and Maguire were carrying knocks, but the pair ten entered the fray in the second half and performed well, hinting that any issues they may be carrying were minor.

There were fears that Marcus Rashford may have injured himself in Portugal after he was taken off at half-time, but Ten Hag explained that this was just a rotation decision.

Regarding Mason Mount, the English midfielder took a knock and a blow to the head against Tottenham last week. Although he has since confirmed it is nothing to be worried about, he did miss out on the squad that faced Porto.

Rasmus Højlund has returned to the first-team XI and scored on his return, hinting that he may be selected from the start as United prepare to face Villa.

Luke Shaw is expected back after the international break, while Leny Yoro and Tyrell Malacia will not return until December.
