Manchester United have seen one of their injured defenders return to first-team training as they gear up to face Arsenal in Los Angeles.

Manchester United have already played two pre-season games in 2024. They suffered a 1-0 loss to Rosenborg but showed significant improvement with a 2-0 victory over Rangers in Scotland, thanks to goals from Amad Diallo and Joe Hugill. New signing Leny Yoro also made his unofficial debut after his £52 million transfer from Lille.

On Wednesday afternoon, United travelled to the USA for three more matches, including high-profile clashes with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.

The first match against Arsenal will be in Los Angeles, kicking off at 01:00 BST on Sunday, 28 July. This will be followed by a game against Real Betis at 03:00 BST on Tuesday, 1 August, at the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego. The tour will wrap up with a final fixture in Columbia, South Carolina, at 00:45 BST on Sunday, 4 August.

United have taken a 29-man squad to the USA, with Rasmus Højlund and Christian Eriksen recently returning from their 2025 European Championship exploits with Denmark—although it is not expected that many others, such as Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mianoo, will return.

Instead, the remaining players will likely report to Carrington following the end of their respective holidays, where first-team coach Steve McClaren will conduct their initial fitness sessions.

Paired with the returns of Højlund and Eriksen, United have also seen injured star Harry Maguire return to first-team training. The England star had missed both the FA Cup final and Euro 2024 through multiple injury setbacks.

“It has been really frustrating, working all season to get myself mentally and physically at the top of my game and be in a position to feel I could really make a difference for Manchester United and my country,” Maguire told the press earlier this week. “To miss out (on the FA Cup final and Euro 2024 was tough.”

However, Maguire has now been pictured and filmed in full training with the rest of the United squad and is expected to be a part of the team that takes on Arsenal in the early hours of Sunday morning,

Mikel Arteta’s men have been preparing for the 2024/25 season with their own pre-season fixtures and recently defeated Bournemouth via a penalty shootout after the two sides were held to a 1-1 draw.
