An injured Manchester United Academy midfielder has issued as seven-word message after confirming he will be unavailable for the club for around ten weeks.

Manchester United’s Academy setup has been a rare bright spot in an otherwise difficult 18 months for the club.

While Erik ten Hag’s first team salvaged last season with an FA Cup triumph, his tenure came to an end in October. Rúben Amorim has since taken the reins but has struggled to ignite performances or belief within the squad.

In contrast, the club’s Academy teams have thrived, with the Under-18s particularly catching the eye. Their recent 3-2 victory over Arsenal Under-18s at the Emirates Stadium in the FA Youth Cup was a testament to their quality and potential.

United have bolstered their youth ranks with exciting talents like Chido Obi and Sekou Kone, while homegrown prospects such as Gabriele Biancheri and Jaydan Kamason continue to make waves after progressing through the system.

Academy midfielder issues seven-word injury message

One Academy player who may miss the remainder of this season is Finley McAllister, who announced last week that he had suffered an injury that has left him “devastated”.

McAllister, who has captained the club at Under-18s and Under-21s level, confirmed that he had suffered a hamstring injury in the Under-21’s defeat to Sutton United in the National League Cup late last month, and stated he would be out for around ten weeks.

On Saturday morning, the young midfield general issued a further post on his Instagram stories with the seven-word quote “tough times don’t last tough people do” accompanied with a bicep and heart emoji.

United’s Under-21s have not had a good season in Premier League 2 and are currently sitting 9th in the league table, 16 points behind league leaders Manchester City.

Amorim will need the Academy this season

What is so unlucky for McAllister is that his lengthy absence will mean Amorim cannot see the player in training or in action when he is starting to call upon the Academy to fill in gaps in the first team.

Although only a select few have so far made matchday squads and only Chido Obi has so far made his debut under the head coach, there are signs that, amid the club missing up to ten players, Amorim is looking to the Academy.

A host of youngsters, such as Jack Fletcher, James Scanlon, and Jaydan Kamason, were all in a recent first-team training session last week, while Harry Amass is expected to be included in the matchday squad against Arsenal.

With United suffering from injuries in midfield, the coming months may have been a perfect chance for McAllister to prove himself to the new head coach, but he may have to wait for pre-season and beyond to do so after recovering from his injury.
